Fabric paint on cotton, an opportunity for creative expression
Fabric painting is not something that has been invented recently but it has been in use for many years. Very few art or craft activities offer more opportunities for creative expression than painting on fabric. Gaining immense popularity for numerous purposes, fabric painting is primarily used in tablecloths, wall hangings, bed sheets and other household linens.
Many patterns of fabric painting are available such as geometric, floral, religious, animals, etc. Out of these patterns, the floral, birds and animal designs are much popular. Beautiful and attractive, painted fabrics have immense uses such as wall hangings, upholstery, table cloths, placemats etc.
The textile paints formulated today are available in a wide array of brilliant colors; they are also water-based, nontoxic and perfectly safe for even young children. There are a various number of techniques and tools that can be used in fabric painting. To achieve the best results out of fabric painting, it is important to choose the right type of fabric. While there are many types of fabric that can be painted on, I use 100% cotton fabric (calico) which is the most effective at holding paint.
Hand painted fabrics take at least 24 hours to dry, but I choose to leave them for 72 hours before washing. Once the paint is dry, the painted object is placed in the dryer on high heat for 30 minutes to set the paint. I also turn the item inside out, iron it to set the paint.
Complete your table setting with my elegant hand painted tablecloths and linens and dine with true sophistication.
My tablecloths designs are one-of-a-kind, however, I can duplicate them or make them in other colors.
